What are reasons for an air conditioning auto repair?
It’s heating up outside and your air conditioner is being put to the test. You may notice that the air conditioner is just not as cold as it once was. Perhaps you are hearing strange noises when you turn on the air conditioning. In some cases a strange odor may be emitting from your vents. All of these are signs that your air conditioning may not be operating at peak performance levels and you may need an air conditioning auto repair.
If you find yourself driving down the road with the windows down more and more these days, you could have one of the following issues:
- Low freon levels – Your vehicle’s refrigerant system is a sealed system. If you are experiencing low freon levels, it’s likely there is a leak somewhere.
- Issues with the air conditioning compressor – The clutch on the compressors can wear out over time. When this happens, they stop pumping refrigerant and your car may just blow hot air.
- Dirty cabin filters – As the air circulates through your car the cabin filters help keep particles of dust and their contaminants from entering your vehicle. Over time they become clogged and need to be replaced.
- Clogged or leaking condenser – Your vehicle’s condenser converts the freon gas into liquid by cooling it. The condenser has various tubes and valves that can wear out or leak over time. It’s also possible for metallic particles to clog the condenser. However, this is usually related to an issue with the compressor. Repair bills can be higher for these types of issues.
